Vector Blog: So this is Christmas…

If you've worked with me before on any of my longer courses you would know there is a spontaneous inclusion of music into our program, where we spontaneously create a playlist of music that cements our group experience.

It was the same this morning, thinking of all of you, across the world and acknowledging how we collectively come together to celebrate Christmas in our own unique way, tied to an invisible thread of tradition. A tradition that runs in the veins of our humanity, a tradition infused with both power and love.

Have we lost a deeper meaning of Christmas?

Known in ancient times as the 'Victory of the Sun', in the Mysteries it was a festival of the Holy Night, celebrated by those who were ready for the awakening of the higher self within them, a celebration of those who have brought the living Christ to birth within themselves.

From a historical perspective, we can dive deeper into the time of Christ and the great Roman Empire.

As an earthy kingdom, the Roman Empire came about by ruthless ambition for power - power for the generals, emperor's and for Rome, built on the power of the sword.  But at the same time that the Empire was at its height, something happened that was even more important for the future of mankind - the coming of Christ.

Without the garments of religion, the story unfolds that from simple, tiny beginnings He was born, and yet His legacy was more important than all the battles, wars and conquests of Rome.  It was important because it was the re-membering of something deep within the hearts of men, long forgotten, another Kingdom at hand, the Kingdom of Heaven.

Earthly kingdoms like Rome built and ruled by power but a Kingdom of Heaven ruled by Love.  

Strangely, the great Roman Empire facilitated  the spread of the Christ message - the message of ❤️ love - it spread from Palestine to Rome, from Rome to Gaul, to Spain, to Britain.  The great roads helped to spread it and no persecutions could stop it, without knowing it, the Romans paved the way for the Love to be reached to as many human hearts as possible.

Crazy here it comes...now think, the name of Rome in Latin, is ROMA.  

Now read this backwards, AMOR.

In Latin, Amor is LOVE.

The Roman empire only wanted power for Roma, and without knowing it prepared the way for Amor - the Christ message of Love.

For me this is confidence in the secret and Mysteries of Life, even within our man-made world there is a secret kernel, the kingdom of power is only a tool, an instrument for spreading the Kingdom of Love.  

A calling for each of us to be an expression of LOVE to the people we touch and the legacy we leave.

And so as I sit in the beauty of the basking Sun in the Southwest, it was the black & white photo of John Lennon and Yoko Ono sitting in bed, that came to my mind and renditions of “Happy Xmas (war is over) “ playing loops in my head, with that I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas with much L-O-V-E from me.
